New words in Oxford Dictionaries Online. Woot!

The following are newly additions to the Oxford Dictionary. Updated quarterly, the Oxford Dictionary Online features a growing number of tech terms.

Just to list a few out of the hundreds:

  • bloggable
    suitable or sufficiently interesting as a topic for a blog

  • clickjacking
    the malicious practice of manipulating a website user's activity by concealing hyperlinks beneath legitimate clickable content, thereby causing the user to perform actions of which they are unaware

  • cyberbullying
    the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature

  • cybersecurity
    the state of being protected against the criminal or unauthorized use of electronic data, or the measures taken to achieve this

  • fnarr fnarr
    used to represent sniggering, typically at a sexual innuendo

  • scareware
    malicious computer programs designed to trick a user into buying and downloading unnecessary and potentially dangerous software, such as fake antivirus protection

  • sexting
    the sending of sexually explicit photographs or messages via mobile phone

  • tbh
    to be honest

  • tmi
    too much information

  • woot
    exclamation; informal (especially in electronic communication) used to express elation, enthusiasm, or triumph
