Facebook and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg are being sued for more than $1 billion over a controversial page on the social networking site which advocate violence and death to Jews.
Facebook was accused to have delayed in taking down a page that called for a "Third Intifada" soon enough and willfully kept it up in order to further their revenues and the net worth of the company. The page had about 500,000 before it was finally shut down.
Facebook shut down the page on Tuesday, several days after Israeli Public Diplomacy Minister Yuli Edelstein sent a letter to Zuckerberg urging him to remove it. Facebook said the page was initially tolerated because it "began as a call for peaceful protest" but direct calls for violence began appearing and the page was removed for violating Facebook's policies.
Facebook has said it would fight the case, dismissing it as being "without merit".
