Google Translate improved - Now with reverse translations for suggestions

Google Translate is now improved! After completing a translation, Google Translate will now provide reverse translation back to the original language for their suggestions so the user can better determine which of the translated terms are more appropriate.

Our users often tell us that they check our translations by translating them back into their original language. Reverse translations can distinguish translations of different meanings and reveal subtle differences among similar words. Each translation is now annotated with its most frequent reverse translations.

This is an excellent update. Do note that for now, this feature is currently available only when translating from or into English.

Google Translate for Android with voice recognition

Google Translate's app for Android added a feature that has previously announced by Google: conversation mode. The new option is experimental and it only works for English and Spanish.

Currently, you can only use Conversation Mode when translating between English and Spanish. In conversation mode, simply press the microphone for your language and start speaking. Google Translate will translate your speech and read the translation out loud. Your conversation partner can then respond in their language, and you’ll hear the translation spoken back to you.

Comparing Google Translate and Bing Translate

Google Translate recently launched a new feature to show translated sentences in tooltip on mouse hover. Do take note Translation MUST be checked (not default) to be able to see the translation in tooltip.

Microsoft recently newly revamped search engine Bing also came out with their very own translation service - Bing Translator. This new translator come with a cool side-by-side feature to compare original and translated webpages. Mouse hover on a sentence will allow you see one-to-one comparison. This is pretty cool.

Google Translate

I tried to translate my blog from English to Chinese Simplified and got it as below. Even though the translation is not 100% correct, the result is quite impressive. Oh ya, my name translated in Chinese is not the one from the translated result. My Chinese name is 宏俊.
