Ever wondered how to download YouTube videos and play them offline? Below will guide you how to do that but most are applicable only to Mozilla Firefox browser though I mentioned one for Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Video file is downloaded to cache in Firefox for viewing. When viewing is completed, the cache file will be deleted. To permanently download a YouTube video, you need a Firefox addon or third party program

There is another method to extract these video.
ReplyDelete1) Go to Temp internet folder
For IE:
e.g C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Folder
For Firefox
Type 'about:cache' in the address bar
e.g C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[files]
2) Figure out which one is the video file (i usually sort by file size. video file is quite big. If the video is still streaming, you will see the filesize increasing)
3) Once the video is 100% done. Copy out and rename it with .flv extension.

Note:
- Do not close IE or firefox until you have copied out the file from the temp folder. They will be deleted automatically and you have to rebuff the show again.
- Sometimes the system don't allow access to the file you want. Complaining that file is being used by another process. You cannot access the file unless you close the browser. But closing the browser will delete the video file.
You may consider Unlocker from http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
it is a freeware. This is a good tool.
