Google Inc may decide to scrap its proposed partnership with Yahoo Inc rather than accept government-imposed antitrust restrictions on it. This was the arrangement made between Google and Yahoo to avoid a Microsoft hostile takeover of Yahoo months ago.
It appears the biggest loser is Yahoo. If Google were to walk away, Yahoo will be left with no deal and its share price is now already at quite a discount. Microsoft would be the biggest winner and count themselves lucky not to have bought Yahoo at initial high bid price.
