Any Javascript Intellisense Editors?
Question
I'm using the AJAX prototype framework and there are a lot of options on there. Great stuff. But I was wondering if there are any free Javascript editor that can intellisense the options I can do- much like Visual Studio with other languages. It really helps speed up the coding. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Lousy Employee Portal
The company I work for is a multi-million or even billion dollar company but the portal it has is easily being beaten by any SMEs'.
Firstly, the portal has a landing page that carters only for 1024 by 768 resolution monitor. If you have a smaller or larger resolution, the wallpaper is either over-stretched or repeats itself. Thumbs down!
Secondly, the portal is designed and WILL only work for IE 6.0 or below. If you are using ANY version of Firefox, it ain't going to work. IE 7.0 is also not supported. The use of firefox or IE 7.0 will just put yourself into risk of encountering countless annoying JavaScript errors. Display is also not readable at all for these browsers. Thumbs down again!
Thirdly, the interface with SAP is extremely slow! The system just underwent recent change and I thought it will support IE 7 and Firefox but they disappointed me. Not only it remains compatible to only IE 6.0, it seems to work more worse on other browsers after the upgrade. Loading and connection to servers has never been so slow before. Thumbs down!
On top of that, employees are told to print out e-claims or e-Leave for submission. I thought the aim of doing E-claims / E-leave is to save the trees and remove the need of having to stack up piles of paper? Why make E-xxx but then make us print hardcopy? Printing using the portal is never an easy task. There is no print function to make printing friendly. What I did is do some tricks to force frames onto new window and making sure session get carried over to the new window. It's hard to explain the exact steps I undertook to just print a single claim but just know it's really unfriendly if not UNUSABLE!
I never like to login to the portal.

Aspects of Life on the World's Greatest Investor - Warren Buffett
Warren Buffett, the second richest man, or perhaps the greatest investor of all times, has got some interesting aspect of his life to share. For your information, Buffett had donated US$31 billion to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Buffett started giving away 85% of his wealth in July 2006 - most of it to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. I respect Mr Warren Buffett.
Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:
- He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!
- He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.
- He still lives in the same small 3 bedroom house in mid-town Omaha, that he bought after he got married 50 years ago.
- He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.
- He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.
- He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company.
- His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis.
- He has given his CEO's only two rules. Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder's money. Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.
- He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some popcorn and watch television.
- Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.
- Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.
- His advice to young people: Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself.

What are SIVs
SIVs finance themselves by selling asset-backed commercial paper, or short-term loans backed by collateral such as mortgages. When the subprime debt market blew up in August, investors stopped buying SIV commercial paper. As a result, in September and October, some SIVs didn't have the cash to pay debt holders thus resulting in many losses.
Yesterday, HSBC decided to put US$45 billion of SIVs onto its balance sheet to end uncertainty as a result of the credit squeeze. Will the other banks like Citigroup, etc, follow suit?

Currently, files for Google are now kept rather in a "disjointed" fashion. Read on my earlier post "The Disjointed GDrive (or Where Do I Upload My Files?)" for more information.
Actually, there's a third party add-on named "GMail Drive" which allows a user to access a virtual drive stored in a Gmail e-mail account by causing the contents of the Gmail account to appear as a new network share on the user's workstation. This extension is free and is not supported by Google.

Black Friday
Lifted from Wikipedia:
"Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the United States, where it is the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. Since Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, Black Friday may be as early as the 23rd and as late as the 29th of November. Black Friday is not an official holiday, but many employers give the day off. Retailers often decorate for the Christmas season weeks beforehand. Many retailers open very early (typically 5 am) and offer doorbuster deals and loss leaders to draw people to their stores. Although Black Friday, as the first shopping day after Thanksgiving, has served as the unofficial beginning of the Christmas season at least since the start of the modern Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, the term "Black Friday" has been traced back only to the 1970s. "Black Friday" was originally so named because of the heavy traffic on that day (see below), although most contemporary uses of the term refer instead to it as the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black (i.e., turning a profit)."

Quote of the Day from Business Times
'Potential good news is that we do have the preconditions in place for the classic year-end rally. While we still look for the market to go higher into year-end, our confidence has weakened a bit and the market needs to improve soon in this traditionally strong seasonal period. If not, we will go to a more cautious stance.'

Is Global Market Going to Fall in 4th Quarter
For years since the Internet bubble burst, technology and utilities stocks in the US have been performing very well till now. Their performance have prevented the US stock market from collapsing and are now trading near their most expensive valuations. However, the recent slight fall of these stocks are sending us warnings that the bull run could be over soon.
The last time the market was so dependent on technology and utilities stocks are in year 2000 (around the Internet bubble burst period). That's when the US S&P 500 index plunges 49 percent over 2.5 years! It seems that we are to be extra careful.
I hope brokers and analysts can update clients more often on the market trends and advise on the necessary actions to undertake before investors' hard-earned cash are lost overnight.

Standard Chartered's e$aver Accounts Interest Rates Drop Again
On the first day of its launch, interest rate for deposit balance below $50K was at 1.88% before falling to 1.50%. In the latest announcement, interest rate for deposit balance below $50K will be further reduced to 1.20% p.a.
FYI, Standard Chartered's e$aver Savings Accounts still remain one of the best saving plans in Singapore.
There's actually another savings account in Singapore that offers a higher interest rate - MayBank's iSAVvy Savings Account. Since its launch, interest rate for deposit above $5K to below $50K was at 2.38%. This interest rate was reduced to 2.08% before reducing further to the current 1.68%. I forsee it to fall again soon but should stay above Standard Chartered's e$aver.
2 Times Lucky
On 28th August 2007, I bought "iShares MSCI India ETF" shares at the price of US$6.65 per share. On 16 October 2007, I sold off all the shares at the price of US$9.05 (intra-day high) per share just before India's market took a downturn the very next trading day all the way down to US$8.15 on 22 October 2007. Today, after 14 days I sold off the shares, the closing price is now US$9.35 (down -3.6%). Even though the current price is higher than my sold price, it doesn't matter.
On 8th October 2007, I bought "China Hongxing Sports Limited" shares at the price of S$1.16 per share. On 29 October 2007, I sold off all the shares at the price of S$1.42 (close price) per share for profit taking. Today, just 1 day I sold off the shares, the closing price has dropped to S$1.32 (down -7%). This stock is going downturn.

ERP Rates Up Again
The goverment claimed that the introduction of the many previous ERP charges were to keep traffic congestion on expressways (particularly the CTE) in check. Despite many unhappiness and grievances by the public, the Singapore goverment still carry on with the move. After 3 ERP hikes in just 1 year and many additional ERP gantries installed, traffic on CTE never once see improvement.
This time round, yet another round of ERP hike will be introduced plus extra ERP gantries to be installed again. This latest hike comes just days after the opening of the new Kallang-Payar Lebar Expressway (KPE) Tunnel. I believe this new KPE will in some way ease CTE's traffic conditions and I see this round of ERP hike unnecessary! Is the hike meant to finance the construction of the new expensive KPE? Since the reason for ERP hike (as acclaimed by the Singapore goverment) is to control traffic, then does this mean ERP charges will be reduced if CTE's traffic is improved? I really doubt so! Everything goes up will never come down.

Maybank Statement Mismatch
Few weeks ago, I made my first transaction using the newly applied Maybank credit card. Few days ago, credit card bill for Maybank was mailed to me but I saw no $30 cash credited to my account.
This morning, I made a call to Maybank's customer service and was told that the privilege is only applicable for customers who have also applied for an additional Maybank product like their credit line, housing loan, etc. I resigned to my fate for having being cheated by the sales people more than a month ago. Back home this evening, I received a sealed letter from Maybank congratulating me that I will be getting my $30 worth of cash which will be credited to my credit card account. I still managed to get the privilege after all.
Questions to Maybank - Is there a miscommunication somewhere among the customer service officers? Why aren't all customer service officers trained and have equal knowlege of Maybank's products? This is even more shocking considered the fact that the officer who attended to me this morning actually spent almost 1 hour to double confirm her findings before reverting back to me through phone again.
This is very disappointing. I am sending this post to Maybank.

3 Days of Demo
First 2 days were my show. I had to go through all the individual test cases.
The first day was reserved to showing all the functionalities that were agreed upon on many previous user requirements sessions. Lucky there were no major problems except some minor MMI changes. There was this particular evaluator from XXXX agency who kept asking questions that did not add any value at all. One of the many stupid questions from him is "why must we set a restrict users from entering values outside 15-25 XX units". My answer to him is straight and simple - "Reason being the system engineer gave me this range and have told me with this range, output will be guaranteed and optimal. Anything outside this range cannot be guaranteed with well calibrated output". I thought this was such a small issue and I did not see this input restriction would in any way affect the software. If in any case the system engineer allow a wider or narrower range, I would just have to change the range check. It would not take me much effort in doing so. Couldn't he just understand and move on? Why debating over such a minute issue for hours! Even the end-users with no technical knowledge could understand.
On the second day of my demo, I was to conduct Full Load Test, Endurance Test, Reserve Requirement Test, and Free Play Test. All these 4 tests were conducted together in a span of 6 hours! I left the system running for the next 6 hours and incorporating full load scenario to see if system still performed normally. At regular intervals, available CPU and RAM usage readings were recorded to ensure there should have 50% available resource at any point in time. Concurrently, end-users were to start using and hands-on the system. They were also allowed to "crash" the system to test how well it could handle erroneous inputs. All went smoothly.
On the third day, first half of the day was my colleague's show while the second half was more like 50-50 affair for us. Again, the XXXX irritating guy brought up his many problematic unnecessary questions again. He even argued over a statement my boss wrote on the Minutes of Meeting. My boss wrote - ".. shall revert on the cost/schedule, if any...". I thought it was a fair statement for both sides. There's a change request and it's an action item. Of course if the change is going to be effortless, demanding for additional money or timeframe would be unreasonable, and if the change is going to be an impact, then it's right for us to request for extra man-months. However, the XXXX guy just could not see the picture. We spent hours debating over this statement. He is a very stubborn person.
Oh ya, I almost forgot to mention the 3 days feast! In these 3 days, there were 2 tea breaks and lunch being catered for! Tea breaks were those standard style often seen provided by catering service. However, I would say the lunch being catered for were quite incredible. All the 3 lunches I had come with a 6 course package plus 1 additional huge plate of nicely cut fresh fruits. The 6 course package comprised of 1 whole fish, chicken, pork, prawns, beancurd and vegetable. Menu for the 3 days were all different. Lunches were not from catering service but rather, it's from our canteen so all dishes were all freshly cooked right out of the oven. Fresh fruits comprises of grapes, oranges, dragon fruits and kiwi. Really had a very filling lunch for the past 3 days.
Ok, back to reality.

wu bin wu tia jin gan ko
Suffering from sickness and pain is so torturous,
chu chu lip lip si pai po
Shuffling in and out of four-bounded walls [the hospital].
pa zan eh lak tao mo
Injections cause the hair to fall,
jia yo kiong be tou
While the strong medicine induces nausea;
gui jit dou teh min cheng po
Waiting for the end whilst bed-ridden.
kiow ti gong gua lai kiow hu zuo
Begging the gods, and begging Buddha,
hu gua ho ho lai kia lou
To let me go in peace.
kiuo bei bu nin diu lai chua gua
Calling out to my parents, you must come and fetch me,
chua gua ka nin lai zou pa
Fetching me to accompany you [in the afterlife].
kin ni zi wu si zap gua
I'm only 40 plus this year,
hu bin jia gua lai zhe bua
Yet sickness comes to torture me.
si bue si wa bue wa
Wishing for death, but unable to die; wishing for life, yet unable to truly live.
chun pua diao mia di lei tua
Left with half a life, being a burden to others.
Chorus x2
lin sieng gua yi geng kua pua
I have seen past this ephemerality called life.
(One Half)
Chorus:
Repeat Chorus*
