A minister in the cabinet Prime Minister's Office and at the same time supposedly serving for the workers as the Labour Chief, Mr Lim Swee Say, once again showed what he is good at. This time round, Mr Lim pointed out that workers holding onto low-wage jobs are a pain in Singapore for they are going to pose problem to Singapore's economy.
My question to Mr Lim are:
1. Since you mentioned a local worker or a foreign worker working in low-productivity jobs, in the low-wage jobs and in the low-skilled jobs, whether the worker is a local worker or a foreign worker pose economic problems, then if non one are filling into such jobs, then who are going to do the work?
2. Why are you holding onto cabinet appointment and at the same time as the Labour Chief?
"If we have workers who continue to be trapped in the low-productivity job, in the low-wage jobs, in the low-skilled jobs, whether the worker is a local worker or a foreign worker, he is still an economic problem because Singapore's economy in certain sectors will not be sustainable" -- Mr Lim Swee Say
I just hope Mr Lim can be more careful with his words and stop getting criticised by the public whenever he speaks.
