Starhub CEO predicted pricing-based model for application access

Starhub CEO predicted pricing-based model for application access e.g. S$3 per month for use of YouTube. In this way, telcos can also charge Singaporeans for use of popular applications like YouTube and Facebook even though the YouTube and Facebook are not charging anyone. This is cunning of the Singapore-based telco and an excuse to squeeze more money from consumers. Shame on them!

Starhub CEO predicted that the industry is headed toward pricing-based model for application access, where users will pay, for example, S$3 a month to access YouTube video clips for a month. However, Skype CEO Josh Silverman, who was also a panelist, disagreed - telcos should charge for the Web access and let users choose the apps they would like to consume.

Shame shame shame!
