ST Engineering today announced that its electronics arm, ST Electronics, has been awarded a contract worth S$10 million by Changchun Bombardier Railway Vehicles Co. (CBRC), a joint venture of Bombardier Inc. and China CNR Corporation.
The contract is to provide passenger information systems for the MRT trains on the new Downtown Line, a project awarded to Bombardier by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore. Bombardier will be the third transport operator, after SMRT and SBSTransit, to provide train services for commuters in Singapore.
In 2008, ST Electronics was awarded a separate contract to provide a communications system for Downtown Lines 1, 2 and 3 and of which will be delivered by 2016.
